Team

Jayant Kulkarni, PhD

Jayant holds an undergraduate degree from IIT (Madras) and a doctoral degree from Cornell University. At Cornell he worked on optimal control theory and its applications. He also spent time as a Swartz Fellow at the Center for Theoretical Neuroscience at Columbia University where he worked with statisticians and neuro-scientists to build models of brain function. He would also like to mention that he is officially an Alien of Extraordinary Ability.

Currently, he serves as a generalist at Quartzy running sql queries, coming up with ad campaigns ("Stop in the name of science!"), and developing relations with businesses partnering with Quartzy.

Adam Regelmann, MD, PhD

Adam has conducted research in chemistry, microbiology, and molecular immunology labs. He holds an MD and PhD from Columbia University, and his PhD thesis provided the primary data for a $2 million NIH award. He is also board certified in Internal Medicine, completing residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Adam currently functions as the scientific voice of Quartzy. He is passionate about Quartzy's mission to enable discovery by providing tools to solve the many problems that plague research. Ajoy Sojan

Ajoy has over eleven years of experience in Silicon Valley, having worked in engineering and managerial capacities at Siebel Systems, Yahoo! and Chegg. He was the co-founder and CTO of Fits, an online social recruiting platform. Ajoy comes to work every day with the sole mission of making Quartzy stronger, faster, and better.

Ajoy has an undergraduate degree from IIT (Madras) and holds a patent for a web-based human-computer interaction technology.

Andy Crum

Andy joined Quartzy in the fall of 2011 and leads Quartzy's UI/UX design and front-end development efforts. He comes from a diverse technological background, which includes time in Information Technology at Pfizer and Research and Development at Fujifilm. On a typical day at Quartzy, you may find him designing an interface mockup, creating an ad or identity piece, or knee-deep in HTML, CSS, and Javascript code. He is passionate about designing elegant solutions for complex problems.

Scott Panichelli

With professional experience in leadership, business, and science, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge to the Quartzy team. He worked in a cancer biology lab at Duke University and became an avid Quartzy user. Prior to that he worked at IBM as a Senior Consultant in the Strategy and Change area. Scott served as an active duty officer in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer, completing several deployments and conducting naval intelligence analysis. He holds a BS from the University of Notre Dame as well as an MBA from George Washington University. He is passionate about bringing organizational change to life science research in an effort to advance scientific discovery.

Umang Shah

Umang comes to Quartzy by way of Mumbai, where he was the project lead for several successful web applications, including one of the most heavily visited sites in India. He is an Oracle certified MySQL DBA with expertise in LAMP technologies. He is passionate about Quartzy's mission and is excited to use his expertise to build products for the global scientific community.
