Our Privacy Policy

  1. Your Privacy is Important to Quartzy. Protecting your privacy is important to us. With this in mind, we’re providing this Privacy Policy to explain our practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information that we receive through our Services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party websites, services or applications, even if they are accessible through our Services.

  2. You own your data. You maintain ownership of the data that you store in Quartzy.

  3. We collect two types of information. All of the information and data in this Section will be referred to collectively as “Your Information.” Our primary goals in collecting information are to provide and improve our Site and our Services. Quartzy collects two different types of information from users of the Site. First, we collect identifier information that you provide to us. This includes your registration information, as well as any other data that you may enter into our Site, including but not limited to information about you (such as picture, your address, your publications, etc.) and information about your company (such as inventory, product requests, equipment, or information about on-going research if you choose to enter it). Identifier information you provide to us may also include payment method including credit card numbers. We do not store your payment information, but we may provide it to (and it may be stored by) our third-party partners (such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express, for example) for completing the payment process. Second, we collect and aggregate Internet and other electronic network activity information about the use of our Site and our Services. That information could include information such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, operating system, the web page that you were visiting before accessing our Site, the pages or features of our Site which you browsed and the time spent on those pages or features, search terms, the links on our Site that you clicked on and other statistics. If you access our Site using a mobile device, we collect electronic information such as a device identifier, user settings and the operating system of your device, as well as information about your use of our Services.

  4. How We Don’t Use Your Information. Quartzy will not sell, trade, rent or otherwise disclose Your Information except as described in these Terms.

  5. How We Use Your Information. We will use Your Information, in compliance with the privacy policy set out in this Section, to help us deliver the Services to you. We do not sell or distribute Your Information to any third party except to complete transactions with our freight companies and third-party suppliers that are authorized to drop ship orders on our behalf, and such parties have entered into written contracts with us prohibiting them from using your personally identifiable information for any other purposes. You agree that we may use Your Information (including store, record, transmit, maintain, use, reproduce, modify, adapt, and distribute it) to the extent necessary to carry out our obligations under these Terms. You agree that we may use your information to advertise and market our products and services to you from both affiliated and non-affiliated entities, which includes sending promotional communications, target advertising, and presenting you relevant offers. In addition, you agree that we may use Your Information to help us improve the Site and make it better for all users of our Site. In particular, we may collect and analyze Your Information and other information relating to the provision, use and performance of various aspects of the Site and the Services and related systems and technologies. We may use such information and data to improve and enhance the Site and the Services and for other development, diagnostic and corrective purposes in connection with the Site and the Services, and disclose such data (solely in aggregate or other de-identified form) in connection with our business. We may also use Your Information to contact you.

  6. Deleting Your Information. You may remove Your Information from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove Your Information, you acknowledge that Quartzy may retain archived copies of Your Information. Subject to the previous sentence, and except where otherwise legally required, if you or we terminate your account and use of the Site and Services, we may, at our sole discretion, destroy or otherwise remove Your Information as soon as reasonably possible after any such termination.

  7. We May Disclose Your Information if the Law Requires It or to Protect Quartzy or Others. We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials or private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We may disclose Your Information to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate: (i) to respond to claims, legal process (including subpoenas); (ii) to protect our property, rights and safety and the property, rights and safety of a third party or the public in general; and (iii) to stop any activity that we consider illegal, unethical, or legally actionable.

  8. We Use Cookies on our Site. Quartzy uses “cookies” on the Site to track Internet or other electronic network activity information. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your hard drive by a Web server when you access our Services. We may use both session Cookies and persistent Cookies to identify that you’ve logged in to the Services and to tell us how and when you interact with our Site. We may also use Cookies to monitor aggregate usage and web traffic routing on our Services and to customize and improve our Services. Unlike persistent Cookies, session Cookies are deleted when you log off from the Services and close your browser. Although most browsers automatically accept Cookies, you can change your browser options to stop automatically accepting Cookies or to prompt you before accepting Cookies. Please note, however, that if you don’t accept Cookies, you may not be able to access all portions or features of the Site or the Services.

  9. International Transfer of Your Information. Your Information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. If you’re located outside the United States and choose to provide Your Information to us, we may transfer Your Information to the United States and store and/or process it there.

  10. What if Our Policy Changes? Any information that is collected via our Services is covered by the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected. We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we’ll notify you of those changes by posting them on the Services or by sending you an email or other notification, and we’ll update the “Last Updated Date” above to indicate when those changes will become effective.

  11. Compliance with California Consumer Privacy Act.  Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to request that a business that collects personal information about the individual disclose the following:

    - The categories of personal information the business has collected about the individual.
    - The categories of sources from which the personal information is collected.
    - The business or commercial purpose for collecting the individual’s personal information.
    - The categories of third parties with whom the business shares personal information.
    - The specific pieces of personal information the business has collected about the individual.
